Excellent attack, smooth action, fantastic grip...
Pickboy Carbon/Nylon Pos A Grip picks are just amazing. Back in 2016, I experimented these models from 0,60 to 1,14mm.
I was a 009 and 010 string player when I start to use these pick models.
Gradually, I became a 008-string player, and 0,60 to 0,88mm is more than enough for me.
More consistently and most of the time, I’m using the 0,88mm model.
And I simply do not even remember the picks from 1 to 1,5mm that I was used to, in the past.
This Pickboy is a “Jazz III XL” shape guitar pick with an excellent attack, great grip and smooth action with no over flexibility, even for the 0,60 model.
The carbon type material permits to have a slim pick without compromising attack and flexibility, which is for me the best of two worlds.
Honestly, one of the best picks I ever experienced in 16 years.
Note:
A few time ago, I started to detect a strange buzz when touching the strings (specially open strings) with this pick. I was annoying with that noise, and I decided to search for a new main pick model.
After tens of different models (always based in Jazz III / Jazz II XL shapes) and all the support from Carl (Lord Of The Strings), I got comfort with the Dunlop Flow model. Also, an amazing pick, and it lives up to its name… It really creates an excellent Flow in our action through the strings.
I’ve tried Dunlop Flow (Ultex) from 0,75 to 1,14mm. Also made my choice to the 0,88mm.
Slightly different attack angle, when compared with the Pickboy, but also with an excellent attack, great grip and smooth action with no over flexibility.
After a while, I found out that the “Pickboy buzz” was caused from the conjunction of the pick material (carbon) and a defective power supply and a specific hum, especially when using high gain or combination of modelling effects. I changed the power supply and return to use the Pickboy carbon/nylon Pos A…
But I was unable to forget the Dunlop Flow... So, now I’m using mainly Pickboy carbon/nylon 0,88mm, but sometimes, when I want some more strumming flow, I have the Dunlop Flow Ultex 0,88mm.
Conclusion:
Considering my playability, string gauge and plural music styles taste, I feel more than served with those two models of guitar pick.
Also, Lord Of The Strings service and availability is a must. All the support and experience share exchanged with Carl, were a great help.
I do not hesitate to recommend this shop.
