Adamas strings
The legendary Adamas phosphor bronze strings are among the most famous acoustic guitar strings in the world. As ancestor of the Adamas string, the National Musical String Company (NMSC), which was founded in 1898, became known world-wide through its "Black Diamond" brand. In May 1980 the Trademark was recorded for the Composite Gauging, one of the special characteristics of the ADAMAS strings.
4 of the 6 strings are completely different from other manufacturers. It is striking that ADAMAS strings have developed their own strength gradation. The aim is to achieve a more homogenous feeling of strength under the fingertips. For E6 and A5 strings, the string core and the spinning material have identical diameters. These two strings feel "different" when frettes, they now resemble each other very much in gripping and vibrating behavior. They oscillate more uniformly and with greater amplitude. They do not sound as different as with many other string producers. It is definitely striking that these strings swing out with "more glowing" sustain than other E6 / A5 strings.
The A5, G3, and B2 string are a little bit thinner than the sets of other manufacturers. Overall, the set feels "more homogeneous" among the fingers. The G3 string has been completely redesigned in material selection, core/spun-wire-ratio, and tension to minimize the breaking of this highly-loaded string. "By the way" the string is easier to "pull ".
In the case of the B2 string, this also eliminates the otherwise unbalanced higher volume, the string does not "bounce" when transitioning from the wound G string. This has an effect with purely acoustic play, but above all with the amplified electro-acoustic play. For all strings: Closed, solid brass ball ends: Normally ball ends are made of steel or nickel-plated iron. The original equipment of the Ovation and Adamas guitars is the .012 movement 1818.
