Solving the Gretsch Baritone G5260 challenge.
Solving the Gretsch Baritone G5260 challenge.
I got great support from the people of Lord of the Strings. I have a Gretsch Baritone G5260. The guitar was delivered tuned BEADF#B, but the sound was not so good. Hard to keep it in tune and there was an annoying resonance playing the B on the E-string. I read on some bass platforms that this guitar was initially brought to the market by Gretsch as a Bass VI. So I tried to get these strings. I discovered that there is a challenge finding a set that fits. The Bigsby consumes a lot of the string length. Recommended sets like Ernie Ball 2837 or La Bella 767 are to short. You need extremely long strings. Carl from Lord of the Strings found out that this D'Addario EXL156 XL set had to fit. These strings are really long. The guitar now plays very nice. Clear sound, great sustain, stays in tune and no resonance.
