I have taken a string out of a packet marked "20W" to put on my bouzouki. I noticed that I can barely turn the tuner and when finally the string reached the desired note, it was extremely tense. I measured it with an electronic caliper, and it turned out to be a 32 !
I was lucky that I didn't break the tuner.
I took out another string out of a "20W" package and measured it first before putting. Now it was indeed 20 (I got 20.5).
This is not the first time this happens to me with D'addario strings. Previous time it happened with Mandolin strings, where one of the G strings was extremely heavy.
Other than that, I use D'addario strings quite often and besides buzzing somewhat more than other strings, they seem fine.
I like their trebles (high carbon steel) - they are loud and robust.
